6/1000 - Arthur L.

I went to see Arthur L. lecture this week.  He was an acclaimed journalistic photographer for many years, and later in his career a professor of photography at the university level. He gave a very interesting presentation on some of the history of photography and New York City.  Born in Brooklyn, NY, he attended Erasmus Hall HS.

5/1000 - Jean C.

I met Jean C of Brooklyn, NY. in Macy's Flagship Store in Herald Sqaure, NY.  Originally from Panama, she has worked in the store for 40 years and in the Gift Wrap Department for the past 20.  She can really make a present look nice.

4/1000 - Rich A.

This is Rich A. from Southampton, NY.  His friends call him "Old Hippie".  I met him at the Great South Bay Music Festival in Patchogue, NY where I was shooting a band that was performing.  He was the stage manager and got to introduce all the bands who played there.

3/1000 - Luis G.

This is Luis G. of Greenpoint - Brooklyn, NY.  He was at Sunken Meadow Park for an annual family reunion picnic, roasting a pig.  He was turning the spit with a steering wheel from a 1986 Chevy S-10 Blazer - obviously built to last, even if the truck didn't.

2/1000 - Dee M.

This is Dee M. from Syosset, NY.  I've seen her walking her dogs Gracie (l) and Riley (r) on many mornings while on my morning run.  We've always waved and said hi, so I introduced myself and shot them.  Riley, who is 14, was very well behaved for the shoot while Gracie, who is 2,  proves that youth really is wasted on the young.

1/1000 - Sam C.

This is Sam C. from Farmingdale, NY.  Today is Memorial Day.  I met Sam while standing outside Republic Airport watching planes take off and land on practice day for the Jones Beach Memorial Day weekend air show.  Sam served in WWII in the Pacific Theater on PA-36, an amphibeous attack ship and saw action in the Marshall Islands, Phillipines and Okinawa.  It's always exciting to spend time with a member of the "Greatest Generation".  We got to watch FiFi, the last remaining airworthy B-29 fly.  When you think about it, it's kind of sad that Sam had to watch it through a chain link fence.  This being Memorial Day, I think Sam deserves being the very first portrait I post.  Thank you Sam, and all of your brothers in arms..
